NERUDP by the Ministry of Urban Development was launched in the year 2009 with assistance from Asian Development Bank with the aim to improve the quality of life in the capital cities of 5 North eastern states Tripura, Mizoram Sikkim, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.
It aims to enhance urban productivity through improved infrastructure and services, with a view to building capacity for enhanced urban governance, finance and service delivery systems through institutional and financial reforms.
It covers water supply, sewerage and sanitation, and solid waste management; GIS-based property tax system and introduction of Gender Action Plan and e-governance.
